Subsidy Fund for Porn Blocked Users in SC

After a South Carolina legislator announced legislation that would require all computers sold in the state to block adult material, adult site xHamster shot back that it will create a subsidy fund to remove those filters from affected computers.
The proposed ban, put forth by South Carolina state representative Bill Chumley would require anyone purchasing a computer to pay an “opt-out” fee of $20 to have the filtering software removed. The xHamster fund would allow purchasers to be reimbursed for the fee.
xHamster is one of the largest adult site in the world, and committed to free expression and education.
“The ban in censorship in its purest form: a government official telling consenting adults what they can or can’t look at,” says Alex Hawkins, spokesperson for xHamster. “Americans have had the right to look at adult material in the privacy of their home since 1969. To propose otherwise, is condescending and offensive to adults. As a company that prides itself not only on providing a platform for sexual speech, but also sex education, we will be starting a fund to remove filters, should this bill pass.”
xHamster has recently launched The Box, a sexual education channel on YouTube. Unlike many adult sites, which tend to promote studio productions, xHamster’s main focus is on self-generated user content. It is the third largest adult site in the world.
